At High Point University Eye Health, we provide comprehensive pediatric eye examinations to support healthy vision throughout childhood. Children should have their first eye examination at approximately six months of age. If their eyes are healthy and no concerns are identified, their next examination is generally recommended between ages two and three.
While many schools provide vision screenings, these screenings are not a substitute for a comprehensive eye examination and may not detect all vision problems.
We also offer specialized binocular vision services for children and adults, including the diagnosis and management of conditions that affect how the eyes work together. Our vision therapy program is grounded in science and designed to treat diagnosed problems with eye teaming, tracking, and focusing.

Vision therapy may be appropriate for children or adults who experience:

Eye strain, headaches, or visual fatigue

Blurred or double vision

Difficulty keeping their place while reading

Frequent skipping or rereading of words or lines

Difficulty shifting focus between near and distant objects

Problems with eye tracking or coordinating the eyes

Vision-related symptoms following a concussion or other neurological event
Vision therapy may also benefit patients diagnosed with conditions such as convergence insufficiency, accommodative dysfunction, or certain eye-tracking and binocular vision disorders.
We welcome neurodivergent patients and recognize that each person may have unique visual, sensory, communication, and comfort needs. Our team works with patients and families to create a supportive environment and develop an individualized care plan based on the patient’s abilities, goals, and diagnosed visual needs.
Treatment is personalized and may include guided in-office activities, specialized lenses or equipment, and exercises to reinforce skills at home. Our goal is to improve visual comfort, coordination, and efficiency so patients can use their vision more effectively during reading, learning, work, play, and everyday life.
